Parallel sliding door for large openings to the terrace or balcony. This opening solution is recommended for widths between 2 and 3.2 meters.
Comfortable opening, but with a limitation
The parallel sliding solution is very convenient, because it also offers the possibility of ventilation and has locking points all around the sash. The least convenient point is the threshold. The bottom profile with the door open is approx. 7cm high.
It cannot be recessed into the floor, because the guide rail on which the sash carriage slides is mounted on the lower profile of the frame. To avoid a high lower profile, the lift-and-slide system can be used. This type of window has a lower barrier of max. 2cm.
However, it has a much higher cost due to the construction which has little in common with the usual PVC window. The frame has a depth of approx. 16cm. This is to give space in depth that lets the sliding sash pass behind the fixed one. Another advantage is the dimensions. Here, widths of up to 6 meters can be created with a single frame and two fields, one of which is sliding and the other fixed.
Up to two meters, a more practical opening is achieved with the usual opening sash. The parallel sliding door can be made with the usual profiles used for classic windows. Thanks to the internal hardware, sliding opening and tilt opening are possible. The sash is moved inwards and then slides very easily.
